Prayer Flags In San Miguel De Allende Mexico

While Walking through a native plant sanctuary in Mexico I felt like I was in the center of the Earth a Navel almost. Getting back to the entrance I came upon these prayer flags and marker that said this place had been declared a Peace Zone by the Dali Lama.

May everywhere we walk be a Zona de Paz on Earth Day and everyday.

  1. Nice solution to the challenge today, Carol. Here in NorCal we are certainly in tune with the availability and abundance of water after so many years of drought.

  2. We need more peace gardens. I bought some prayer flags last weekend but I haven’t hung them up yet because I wasn’t sure how to go about it. Now I will foolow the Dalai Lama’s lead. Thanks for the inspiration.

      1. Thanks Carol. Yes, I agree with that idea about the flags. I just felt I needed to give them a prayer to take to the heavens in these troubled times. I like the idea of focusing on the Dalai Lama’s peace message while I hang them up. 🙂 I guess I just like to bring a little ritual and recognition of the sacred into my life these days – there is so little of it out there in world.

        1. What a lovely idea. 😘Yes a ritual in everyday life is what we do need now. When I was in Nepal prayer flags flew around every corner reminding us life is sacred. The characters on the flags are prayers that coincide with the colors. I wish I remembered what they were.

          1. That’s interesting. I heard that the words were “Om Mani Padme Hum”. You have made me wonder what else they say. I’ll do some research tomorrow and see what I can find out. (it’s too cold and late over here now. 🙂 )

            1. I looked them up the other night too. Please Post a Picture of your flags.
I keep meaning to stop buy the Tibetan store and get some flags. Because of Mountain Travel we are fortunate to have a big Tibetan population in Berkley and Albany.
