life is a garden,
not a road
we enter and exit
through the same gate
wandering,
where we go matters less
than what we notice
~ Bokonon ~
Words to live by? I do Believe so. Especially for some one like me that wanders around taking pictures of rose petals on leaves. Maybe I am a Bokononian and don’t know it. Are You? I didn’t remember it from Cat’s Cradle when I found these words in my in-box from Panhala, a-poem-a-day email.
Bokononism is a religion invented by Kurt Vonnegut and practiced by many of the characters in his novel Cat’s Cradle. Many of the sacred texts of Bokononism were written in the form of calypsos. Bokonon is a fictional character and founder of Bokononism. Thanks to Wikipedia

This is the first time I’ve ever heard of Bokononism (strangely it sounds like a frog’s name to me), but the wisdom behind those words is simply beautiful. 🙂

“where we go matters less than what we notice” resonates in my soul. Methinks, I might therefore, be a bokononian!

I wonder if there mightith be bokononian hymns? Perhaps the one about the “dew still on the roses” something I often notice. Definitely soul resonating words.

I used to sing that to my children each night to drift them off to sleep.

Bokononism . . . new to me!! But, I do love the pictures you are taking. Just good photography as far as I’m concerned. I doubt that you remember the picture I had when I was in H.S. photography class. It was a fly on the brick posts holding up our front porch. Just a fly on the brick. By the way, I did get an “A” for that picture. (and in black and white too)

I loved this and am not familiar with Bokonon. I will rectify that directly. Have a good day.
