While I waited for the monarch butterfly to lite on the Milkweed plant so I could get a photo it danced around the yard, finally teasing me by flying above my head. That is when I raised my camera and clicked, capturing a Blue July Sky and Bright Orange butterfly all in one place for a single moment.
This is beautiful! I love to see the Monarchs in my yard, but then I grow milkweed, too!
A friend of mine – an avid gardener – looked at my yard and asked, “what are those plants that look like milkweed?” Why, they are milkweed, was my reply. I think he could not understand why I was growing a “weed” in my front yard.

Hehe! Weed as in marajuana? 😉
I have a landscape version of this photo would you like it for the calendar? I was thinking of sending a few bee portraits along too.

Oh my, I LOVE it when stuff like this happens. So often it’s the shot you barely get that turns out to be your favorite. LOVE this one! The light through the wings is beautiful.

Me too. To everything you said. I took 2 shots. This is the first. I felt like a real wildlife photographer stalking the wild butterfly!
