Denzil shares photos and talks about Bees Nature Photo Challenge #17. I’m sad to say that there are very few honey bees this year in my garden as well as my neighbors here in SF Bay Area. We believe the storms this winter and spring have damaged the hives. Hopefully they will bee rebuilding soon. I have captured a fat bumblebee on my lavender and have other photos from other years.

Here are some of my favorite bee portraits I love getting in close to see the little hairs and wing veins as well as pollen sacks. The chart below helps me know which winged being I dare get close to. Enjoy.
