Anderson High Atop Indian Rock.
Indian Rock Park is a giant bolder smack in the middle of Berkeley surrounded by streets and houses.
It’s a great place to watch sunsets while imagining the Ohlone Indians grinding their acorns and keeping watch for dinner, the bear and deer that would wonder by. There are impressions where acorns were ground into meal at the foot of this tiny mountain.
Anderson, as some of you may remember, was the Brazilian student we hosted this Summer. Leaving home and family to come to the US to study English qualifies him as a free spirit without climbing Indian Rock but this picture captures his love of adventure.
Truth be told it take about 3 minutes to get to the top of Indian Rock But you can often see rock climbers hanging off the sides of it practicing their skills in relative safely.
May we all find a place to look out from to get a better perspective on life as September begins and Summer ends.
that last line reads like a wonderful blessing. Let us free our spirits, moving forward into the last part of the year.
