The Weekly Photo Challenge asked me to post something that says foreign to me.This theme came just in time to show you photos of the Day of the Dead Alters. It just so happens that these photos where taken by my daughter at the Oakland Museum this last weekend. Being originally from Oklahoma, no matter how long I live in California, this colorful festival honoring the ancestors will always be otherworldly to me. I wouldn’t have it any other way. It is important to embrace and celebrate differences.

I love this!

Beautiful photos! Day of the Dead is my favorite holiday, and we celebrate it every year! Los Angeles has the largest DotD celebration in the United States, and we never miss it. I’ve even built an ofrenda (altar) honoring my father. Love this holiday.

Cool! I’d love to see that. Our Unitarian Church does Day of the Dead and people bring pictures of their dear departed. 2 legged and 4 legged it’s very touching.
