LIVES UN-TWINING
I reach out a hand to say
good-by
I bent into the sheet and damp green blanket
to find a head to kiss
good-by
Hair soft and thin
as she is now
almost gone
as she is now.
With strength I didn’t realize was there
she pulled me in
and held on tight
I found myself beside her
my face tucked into her neck
fever hot
I looked up into blue eyes and said
the only thing I to say to a friend I’m about to lose
“I love you. May the stars and angels watch over you.”
All angles and awkward I lay
beside her
forever holding a hand I knew
soon I would let go of
forever.

I could give you details of cancer’s ravages but we all know that by now. I just want to thank you for reading and knowing and being blessings one to another.
Sad and beautiful.

It is hard to watch someone you Care a out disappear. Writing about it helps. Thanks for your kind words.

I am sorry for your friend and those who love her dearly. As I am going through this with my mom — this is quite poignant and bittersweet. Lovely tribute.
