Island-of Blue Dolphin is an important book in California. All 4th Grade students read this true story of a young girl left alone on an island of the coast of Santa Barbara.

I grew up in Oxnard, California and Island of the Blue Dolphins was a favorite. My 4th grade teacher read it to our entire class. I have fond memories of that.
