Gulf Fritillary (don’t you love that name)

According to Mr. Google it’s a common butterfly that migrates through California in the fall. Unlike its lookalike friend the Monarch the fritillary is not endangered.

    Around our neck of the woods we get Great Spangled Fritillaries (I know) – another wonderful name.
