One more week until January Light Square Challenge takes flight

Fairy
She looks so beautiful in backlight

I haven’t posted a link to Nurturing Thursday in a while however, I think a fairy might be of help lighten our load of overwhelming madness going on around us!

poems

The first step is to find out what you love and don’t be practical about it.

The second is to start doing what you love immediately, in any small way possible…

“My work is loving the world. Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird— equal seekers of sweetness. Here the quickening yeast there the blue plums. Here the clam deep in the speckled sand. Are my boots old? Is my coat torn?

Am I no longer young, and still not half-perfect?

Let me keep my mind on what matters, which is my work, which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished.”

Cutting Loose

(For James Dickey)

Sometimes from sorrow, for no reason,

you sing. For no reason, you accept

the way of being lost, cutting loose

from all else and electing a world

where you go where you want to.

Arbitrary, a sound comes, a reminder

that a steady center is holding

all else. If you listen, that sound

will tell you where it is and you

can slide your way past trouble.

Certain twisted monsters

always bar the path – but that’s when

you get going best, glad to be lost,

learning how real it is

here on earth, again and again.
