It’s still January in California time for one more Light Square I was admiring the interesting clouds when I noticed a rainbow next to the sun! It’s supposed to be opposite the Sun

Here’s the panorama of the scene. Rainbow down and to the left next to the sun
How fabulous. Do you know I am not sure I have heard it called that before, brilliant name

I googled sundog to make sure it’s a real thing. “Sundogs are an optical phenomenon in which a pair of mock suns appear on either side of the sun. These spots form along a halo that appears to encircle the sun. This is an optical phenomenon caused by the refraction of sunlight on flat, hexagonal ice crystals (or diamond dust) found high in the sky in cirrus clouds.”
