It may be an Australian thing for girls to be in the pink or purple camp, or so it seems from the comments on the Friendly Friday post.
When we place pink next to purple as in the sweetpea, we can clearly spot the difference.

Can’t speak for all American girls but it seemed little girls outgrew pink and went to purple.
