I’m joining Photographing Public Art Challenge today with one long mural of the history of West Berkeley

There’s so much to be seen here’s a slideshow
I use to drive by waving man everyday on the way to work. He stood on the corner and just waved it cheered me up no matter my mood. Here is still waving at a passer-by.

It was fun exploring your mural. Wish they’d included a view of the Freight and Salvage. I used to love their concerts there.

The mural is for South Berkeley, which unfortunately doesn’t include The Freight. We are excited about it re-opening.fingars crossed 🤞

Are the women drying and packing sardines in the one mural? At first I thought they were weaving the big baskets.

I suspect weaving baskets, that’s what the Olhone people did. Sardines are more a Monterey thing.

What a fantastic display of public art. It must have taken a huge team of artists to paint it. Well captured!

It took 2 years to complete. I would hope they could make a key to identify all the people and places in it.
