Denzil challenged us to share our finds of Black in nature. I once grew Black Tomatoes. They were black through and through unlike eggplants that are green inside.

There is no black pigment in this blackish butterfly. The color is caused by the way light reflects off the prism-like scales of the wings, is the way I understand it.

Blackberries are my favorite food this time of year. It’s so hard to wait for them to ripen.

I have these little black stones from my mother’s collection. They are called Apache Tears or the tektites. Actually Obsidian

Black Bird, Black Bug, Black Dog.

  1. Never seen or heard of a black tomato Carol! Was this an aberrance or a real type of tomato? Did it taste like a red tomato? Could I use this as photo for my roundup please?

  2. I always wonder about black tomatoes as to whether they taste like tomatoes. Same with the yellow ones which can be quite bland. A great example for the challenge.
