Weekly Prompt Black came just in time for me to share my attempt to observe the partial eclipse from California, where the sun was only 35% covered for 10 minutes. I used a colander to catch the crescent sun and took one photo of the sun without looking, sorry it’s not black.
It turned a little dark and the birds made a little noise, and overall it was a pleasant morning with the family in the back yard.

Very neat captures. We had totality here for about a minute and a half. I enjoyed the reflections on the ground, too.

Yes, and the diamond ring, too. We had mostly cloudy skies, but the clouds cleared enough just before totality.

I love your pictures! A rare experience. Our last one in the UK was sixteen years ago, and we’re not due again for another sixty years!
