A couple days back Becky posted on Geometric January about the beautiful houses built after the Great San Francisco Fire and Earthquake. A story rarely told is about the mostly Portuguese and Chinese fishermen who escaped across the SF Bay to where I live in Albany. There small bungalows were built. Some were canvas and cardboard, one of those was on our block until about 10 years ago. Sorry no photos of that one but here’s some of the little our lovely little post Earthquake East Bay homes. Notice, many have had rooms added over the years.

oh these are gorgeous – you live in such a wonderful diverse area with so many cultural history

It is indeed diverse! On my one block of single family houses there are many races, religions and nationalities! Street parties have the best food!
