Like Chinese New Years Fireworks
bursting forth to ward off evil,
the flowering quince appear
just in time to drive away the
darkest days of winter.
What is bursting forth in you that will keep away the gloom until Spring arrives?
Every year my friends and neighbors ask for cuttings to decorated their homes for the various celebration around the end of January and February… Then later in the year, little birds eat the petals (I swear they look like a bird-dogs hybrid with a pink lapping tongues). Never been able to capture them on film.
Your beautiful, happy photos MAKE MY DAY!

I love flowering quince!! I used to make quince jelly with the quinces from my husband’s grandmother’s farm up in Orland, California.
