An Odd Bird for Leap Day

File this one under whimsy

Local graffiti artists have gone

about decorating

any flat surface, old sheds, rocks,

and the dirt even,

in what was once a landfill

and is now a park.

As you stroll along the bay with

your dogs and other friends you are often

surprised by beauty and strangeness.

This draping pink flamingo,

I think that’s what she is,

seemed fitting for the odd day

that only comes once every four years.
