I’m a big fan of open faced sandwiches
and open faced roses who
hide nothing among they’re petals
what you see is what you get.
Like a pink big floppy sun hat topped
with yellow fluff and feathers
she a stand out at
any garden party. You immediately know
you can go right up to her and
she’ll whisper stories about honey bee’s
and her best friend the wind
who keeps her dancing all
Summer long. Tell her I sent you
and she might even give you a whirl
this flirty girl.

I just love this ode to what we refer to, here, as the wild rose. they border our property and I do so love them.

Oh yes she is a wild rose! Always fun to hear about your stomping grounds, Joss. Ode I guess it is, thanks for the taxonomy of my poem 😉

Carol, I love the five petaled rose; it is the perfect shape and proportions and the pattern for rose windows in cathedrals – and the embodiment of Fibonacci numbers. There is something about the simple flowers that never fails to charm me. Lovely photo, lovely verse 🙂

Lynn you are spot on, I was going for the wonder of the number 5, so balanced. Sacred to Venus who will be transiting dance with the sun next week. Now I have to look up Fibonacci numbers thanks.
