Dahlia Dalliance
The Dahlia Band plays
in every yard but mine.
I stole a glance
and had a dance
then went home
all alone.
Dahlia you’re such a tease
spinning in the breeze.
Come next year you’ll
be the star
in my back yard.
These beauties have been the screen saver on my phone for a few weeks, so I see it every day. I just couldn’t think of what to say about it until Margo Roby’s Tuesday Tryouts wrote a lovely suggestion about writing with the theme Winter or what season you are needing the most. Since it’s been fogging a lot around here I felt the need for something bright and silly. Hey don’t you plant dahlia bulbs in winter?

love this, it’s as cheerful as the Dahlia.

I agree. I like the lightness and airiness of the poem and the photograph is gorgeous. Love the colour of the dahlias!.

It says summer to me! My Dad raised dahlias in Jersey. Every year in the fall, he would dig them up, slide them in old pantyhose and keep in the basement until spring. They are so beautiful.

Lovely. I have no luck (translate that as patience) with such beauties.
