I took Labor Day off from blogging, but yesterday I did captured a photo of this mural of workers building the Golden Gate Bridge. It is one of the many WPA Murals on the walls of the Old San Fransisco Post Office which is now a beautiful office building.
One more reason to visit SF.
Wonderful blog. Wouldn’t it be nice to talk to them about building the bridge? The artists who did the mural did a wonderful job.

Must have been pretty exciting and dangerous. They are always having TV specials about building the bridge out here and we get to here some of their stories.

This reminds me of murals in Coit Tower, which are absolutely incredible.

They seem to be one of those best kept secrets of SF. Our Daughter works in in the building. Do you know it at California and Spear? Close to the Ferry Building

I’m wondering who’s going to be the first blogger to show up on my door step wanting a tour around SF . Will it be you? 🙂

If I were 10 years younger and a heck of a lot richer, it would be me like a shot.

I’m glad the WPA murals are still around – many have been lost. I think they are an important record of creative endeavors during a difficult period in our history.

Well put, Anne. Carolee mentioned the ones in Coit tower there also a source of pride around here.

I have watched several TV specials on the bridge. Still intrigues me!! What a fete “way back then”. Also the Hoover Dam. I guess I need to get in the car someday and come see that bridge. Saw the Hoover Dam about 12 years ago. So interesting.

There areo-planes now-a-day! If you watch for specials it’s not that expensive often cheaper than driving 🙂

Yes, but would have to make it a two day trip on the areo-plane. About 1 1/2 hours is my max on one of those things. lol
