How do I tell you about a late June rain?
Rare around here.
Leaf sized birds
under the rambling rose
have set up
a sweet
a steady churri-churri matching the
rhythm of the rain the
kitchen door is open letting
in the fresh, the
clean, the promise.
Empty
pots and bowls fill with grace.
I will save some to put
out the fires of August.
For now I
willingly receive
the blessing.

We usually begin to get rain in California around December 25th that is why it is known as El Nino and it is over some time in late April, so you can see why this rain needed its own poem.
Yes, let’s hope this will help suppress the wildfires that had started early this year, and maybe the hills will turn back to green!

Good to know the wet showed up. I was trying to figure out how to photograph rain. Our mist doesn’t show up very well 😉

In the UK we get lots of rain. This year we have had very little sun – grey skies most days – but the garden is lush and heavy with the perfume of roses and orange blossom. Soon it will be the turn of honeysuckle. I love the green richness of England.

I grew up in Oklahoma where it rained all June. See comment below from my friend from there and you will see why this rain meant so much to me. Thanks lovely view of your garden 😎

Remember the “olden” days in Oklahoma when we would get plenty of rain up thru June and into July. The farmers sometimes couldn’t get into their fields to harvest the wheat. Gee, how things have changed in our world today. 90 degrees in Anchorage yesterday. And it was only 92 degrees here in southeastern Oklahoma. Supposed to be 100 by this weekend though. I sure hope this “climate change” is temporary!! I don’t like what I see in the future. But a little rain like you had is exciting isn’t it. lol Pray for more!!
