The Daily Post asked for Incredible or Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! So Here we have two songs by incredible woman whose voices ring in our memories even after they have been silenced. Who else, besides me, remembers learning to say Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! for the first time?

My Husband likes to offers suggestions for Dance Around Friday. Today he suggested this version of For A Dancer but I teared up listening to, thinking of Linda Ronstadt. This is why I paired it with Mary Poplins until I remembered they both have sadly lost their voices.

On Another Note

I’m Looking for suggestions of Halloween Dance Music for Next Friday:

I’ve come up with my list:

  1. Monster Mash
  2. Thriller
  3. Rocky Horror Show’s Time Warp
  4. And Any number of Dead Teen Ager songs

I’m Sure There Are More! Please Contribute. I’ll Post them all and we’ll have a Halloween Dance Party Next Friday!

Finally I want to give as Shout out to Margo Rody post Poetry Free For All and includes Dance Around Friday each week. Go Check her out.

  1. I danced to the first and wrote my son while listening to the second! I’ll let you know if he comes up with something. As I was typing my comments to you, in came your poem!.

  2. Oh, thank you so much for posting Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris singing The Dancer… I heard it so differently today from how I used to “hear” it… they are more upbeat than the Jackson Browne version. I can see I am developing my own dance(s) and I am sowing my very own seeds, out into the world… And I am aware of some of the reasons I’m alive…to share those seeds. (I just emailed the youtube and lyrics to my husband too…thank you, thank you…) I remember learning to say and sing Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, too! What fun that was! 🙂

  3. “Just do the steps you’ve been shown…” wow! sounds like you are become a dancer of your own for sure…I have the CD but listening and seeing them sing does make a difference. I’ll look up the lyrics too. Thank you for sharing so deeply.
And Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, learning to say it was fun!!! At least as long as there is cut and paste I wont have to learn to spell it 😉

  4. Dead Man’s Party by Oingo Boingo is a must for Halloween. Rock Lobster by the B-52’s has the vibe, but not the lyrics; still, it was part of the in-store Halloween music when I used to work at Spencer’s Gifts way back when. There was a song called Peeka-boo or something along those lines, one called “Jeepers Creepers”, then there was “Abra, Abra Cadabra | I’m gonna reach out and grab ya”. Also, check out “No One Lives Forever” by Oingo Boingo, that’s a good one too: “let’s have a party, there’s a full moon in the sky | it’s the hour of the wolf and I don’t want to die”.

That’s just a few off the top of my head – I hope that helps your playlist grow at least a little!
