Down the road
Not too far
Where a lot of beer is sold
Just remember where you are

Wonder Wednesday Challenge: Create a Conversation With a Single Image

This week I’ve had fun looking at a number of challenges that’d asked for Dialogs or visual poems like Wordless Haiku made of photos. I worked backwards here. Use this image or your own image as a jumping off point for a conversation and see where it takes you.

Post a comment on Light Words with a link to your post so others can enjoy it and while you’re there go see what the other Wednesday Wonders are up to. If you don’t have a Blog you can write directly into the comment section. It can handle about 100 words or email me.

Wonder Wednesday Challenge: Connectedness

“Not Separate is any creature or object–from the Light”. Hafiz

photoImage

photo 1 How are you connected?

Once long ago after a small but traumatic accident I felt like I couldn’t get back to being “myself”. I received a card with a heart that had a small crystal in the center, and every day for ten days I used that as a focal point for meditation. I began to think of it as “aligning with Light”. I came back to myself-connect with myself. I was healed and here many years later these words from Hafiz the Sufi Master fell into my lap this week. Perhaps a reminder   I need to rekindle that practice. I hope my words and story are of use for you.

Have a wonderful Wednesday

What reminds you that you are not separate?

I’m “connecting” this with the Wonderful Wisdom of Becca Givens’ Nurturing Thursday

Saffron Rainbow

Saffron Rainbow

Songs become stuck in some folks minds repeating over and over and unwanted. For others a craving for salt or wine  may often insinuates themselves in the mind of the most well meaning persons. For me it color,a hue of certain intensity will demand  my attention. I own an expensive, intactly beaded, cobalt blue hair clip of exquisite design because of this occasional obsession. Saffron stepped up and ask me to fallow where she might lead yesterday while I was attempting write about a broken relationship. Tuesday Tryouts Broken Relationships.

 Saffron

Who, or what from my past was the color

of sunlight as seen through closed eye lids?

I sat in the sun and meditated.

Marigolds for death?

My silk fairy scarf?

Cheetos stained fingers?

A copper penny? My hair,

my dog use of be that color.

Not the correct intensity.

Keep looking start seeing.

I took up the ever present camera

and ventured into the garden

an orange bell flower

posed politely for me

As did a fuchsia.

I even chased down a robin

with red breast gleaming.

Nothing satisfied or

or spoke to my soul.

Returning to the kitchen

the first crystal rainbow

of the season

lit up the tile bird above the stove.

A prayer answered

before it was asked. The crystal,

in the shape of a heart,

casting the rainbow

was a gift from Chris

a friend who vanished

from my life, as completely as,

the rainbow that faded from

my kitchen wall.

Weekly Photo Challenge: House Finches Make themselves at Home

House Finches make themselves at home. You can see our home in the feeder cover.

One finch waits politely to join his friends at the feeder.

One finch waits politely for me to fill the feeder.

These photos are taken through the  back door windows hence the streaks. I was doing the sequence just about the time Weekly Photo Challenge came in yesterday asking me to do something that says home to me. I always feel  my home is blessed when these lovely red house finches come visit. They showed up yesterday checking out my empty feeder that I quickly filled. I hope they make you smile as much as they do me.

An Immigration of Turkeys

No wonder legend has it that Ben Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird. This guy is so beautiful!

The local flock made there way through the neighborhood Sunday. We all went out to watch including a little boy who commented

“Look, Mom, the turkeys are immigrating!”

Interesting idea, I though, No they are the natives and most of the rest of us are immigrants!

Handsome couple out for a Sunday Stroll. Doing the Turkey Trot perhaps.
