Jasmine stars parade and  a little bird hides among

the heart-shaped leaves of the redbud tree outside my kitchen window.

As a child such a tree was my home.

I swung from its limbs, climbed through its branches

made myself a nest and read Little Woman in the shade of its leaves shaped like wings.

Today my heart sings praise to a world where redbud trees still blooms.
