Welcome to Wonder Wednesday
For half a year I have been having a great time writing poems or telling stories about my pictures. Starting today I will be inviting you to use the images as a prompt for a free write each Wednesday on a chosen theme.
This week it is Struggle.
For further inspiration you might like to know: I chose this picture because yesterday I wrote about how I was impressed with participants of The Arab Spring, and their tenacious spirit in a harsh environment. When have you struggled and overcome something or just visited an ancient ruin where very little has survived except… hmm? You may see something totally different. That’s OK
This isn’t my first foray into creative inspiration: I taught art, theater and writing for over 30 years. During that time I always felt my job was to throw out ideas and stand back and watch folks create. So now, I am so excited to do that very same thing in my own virtual class room. Can’t wait to to see what you will come up with. I wonder what it will be!
Here’s how to participate in Wednesday Wonder:
1. Each week I’ll provide a picture and a word for creative inspiration. Show the world based on your interpretation what you have in mind for the theme, and then post them on your blog anytime before the following Wednesday when the next theme will be announced in Pacific Standard Time.
2. Subscribe to Light Words so that you don’t miss out on weekly Wonder announcements. Sign up via the email subscription link in the sidebar.
3. Post a comment on Light Words with a link to your post so others can enjoy it and while you’re there go see what the other Wednesday Wonderers are up to. If you don’t have a Blog you can write directly into the comment section. It can handle about 100 words or email me.
4. I don’t have a badge you for you add to your post to but I sure would appreciate a link to Light Words somewhere in your post so others can find out about the wonders of Wednesday Wonder.
Remember: please feel to ask questions. And Above All Have Fun!

Well, I’ll break the ice. Looking at the small photo in my email, with the reference to ancient ruins and knowing you’d been to Mexico, I thought I was looking at a stepped pyramid and Mexican marigolds. Perceptions . . . perspectives . . . preconceptions. One of my “struggles” is to not jump to conclusions about what people are about to say and jump in to finish their sentences. As if I were at the top of that wall, I need to look before I leap and look again (and listen) for more insiqht.

What a lovely and insightful stream of conscientiousness thought. Thanks for jumping in and not off the wall, Ann.
