November 1

The glowing in the dark

the glowing

the rumbling in the air

all the mask removed

the night of fright has passed

Welcome the New Year.*

*Why do I say Happy New Year? What is now All Souls Day was once the New Year. In early Celtic tradition the Halloween was Samhain or the last day of Summer. November 1st the first day of Winter or Witches New Year.  Stolen away on the Equinox now there is hope for Persephone’s return.  In the garden bulbs are storing nutrients to push through the soil when the Sun returns on the Winter Solstice.

The Winter holds the seeds of Summer

What do you hope is stirring underground?

  1. The way you put it into perspective, November 1st is a fitting way to start the New Year with all that it promises yet to be realized. The flowers have bloomed, the birds have fledged and fled, the seeds and bulbs are resting. Hope is stirring underground.
