These clouds come as close to Oklahoma or planes clouds as I could find in my archives. It looks like a twister is getting ready to drop down any moment, don’t you think? I was inspired to dig into my Oklahoma roots after yesterday’s prompt of Planes. We learned all the words of Oklahoma when I was in the 2nd grade because the theme song from Oklahoma became the state song around then. I remember belting out “Where the wind comes right behind the rain!” I made my husband learn the words to prove he wanted to marry me. This is the “real” version of Oklahoma as far as I am concerned. No matter how good Hugh Jackman looks in a tux. Now get ready and see if you remember all the words 🙂 of OKLAHOMA!
If your a mind for it: when this is finished the next video is in the frame is “Oh What a Beautiful Morning” with pretty prairie scenes.
My brother played Will in Oklahoma in high school; great memories. The first review of Oklahoma on Broadway remarked on how the musical opens with a handsome man singing “O What a Beautiful Morning” – apparently the audience sighed and bought it into it. I feel that way every time I hear it, but usually I just sing it first thing every morning in the garden during the season 🙂
“O What a Beautiful Morning” is imprinted in my DNA from my childhood in Oklahoma. (See Neal’s comment.) What good mental health, to wake up and sing that song. I should get back to my own roots. Thanks for the reminder, Lynn.
I’m proud of you for hanging onto your Oklahoma roots!! We both can remember the toronado scares when we were little and the times we would go to our basement. And the song Oklahoma. What a classic!! Enjoyed this blog Carol.
I so do remember running for your basement as the tornado headed our way, but it was so much fun standing there waiting till the last minute to take cover!
I love your husband/Oklahoma story!!!

I know, it’s the best I could do.or want to do. But I do remember little ropes dropping out of the sky in the OK Panhandle.
