Sunday Post: Window

Target Coffee Show Window

Target Coffee Show Window

View through window of Target Coffee Shop.
I often sit here to write, visit with friends or people watch. As an added bonus I get great views of clouds over the parking lot. Last week I noticed what looks like a lenticular cloud forming I took this shot through the Target window. My plan was to crop it down but when Jake’s Sunday Post asked for a window so I left it alone, grocery cart and all! I think it works, what do you think?

Sunday Post: California Poppies Attract Bumble Bee

California Poppies attract bumble bees.  Often there are whole hillsides covered in our golden state’s flower, but this year it is very dry. As you can see the leaves are already brown in May and the wildfire season has also started early. Rain is on the way today but not enough to bring back the gold I am afraid.

Sunday Post: An “Arrangement” of Stars

SKY ARRANGEMENT

Often Called an alignment the planets have arranged themselves in a parade

The planets have arranged themselves in this rare parade or conjunction. You will not often see Moon, Neptune, Mercury, Sun, Mars, Venus and Uranus so close together.

Star Arrangements or constellations just after sunset as seen directly west over San Francisco (latitude 37) Taken from my phone app Sky Map. I was out looking for the comet Panstarrs using the phone app to help me find exactly where the sun had set when I noticed this  startling arrangement of planets.

For more about the comet go to Nasas Guide for Viewing Panstarrs. It has already made it’s way through the Southern Hemisphere and is now crossing the equator towards us in the North, So Sorry Jake who suggested Sunday Post Arragment  that the Comet has passed you by.

Sunday Post: Capture! Oh, I mean Captivate

Papal spider.

Papal spider.

Captivating -to influence, hold or dominate by some special charm, art, or trait and with an irresistible appeal. I seem to come up  with a pun each week for Jakesprinters theme. This week I just couldn’t resist capturing you  in my web of hilarity and strange beauty.  Oh and there might even be of a double because this is a Papal spider, really…Check out shape of the body and it’s design. What do you think?

Oklahoma Clouds and Music

I was inspired to dig into my Oklahoma roots from Yesterday's prompt of Planes. We learned all the words of Oklahoma when I was in the 2nd grade because the theme song from Oklahoma became the state song around then. I remember belting out .Where the wind comes right behind the rain. I made my husband learn the words to prove he wanted to marry me.

These clouds come as close to Oklahoma or planes clouds as I could find in my archives. It looks like a twister is getting ready to drop down any moment, don’t you think? I was inspired to dig into my Oklahoma roots after yesterday’s prompt of Planes. We learned all the words of Oklahoma when I was in the 2nd grade because the theme song from Oklahoma became the state song around then. I remember belting out “Where the wind comes right behind the rain!”  I made my husband learn the words to prove he wanted to marry me. This is the “real”  version of Oklahoma as far as I am concerned. No matter how good Hugh Jackman looks in a tux. Now get ready and see if you remember all the words 🙂 of OKLAHOMA!

If your a mind for it: when this is finished the next video is in the frame is “Oh What a Beautiful Morning” with pretty prairie scenes.

A Sunday Post: The Plaines En Plein Air

A plain ?

A view that you might see on a plain in spring.

Jakesprinters asked me to post about the Plaines. Since I live in a hilly area by the ocean I went to a place  that I thought might stand in as a prairie. When I arrivers there was a group of watercolorist painting the breathtaking view. Often known as En plein air  painters  (French for open air), it is doubly fitting that this would be this dyslexics offering for  today.  I was tempted to run home and dig out my  little box of Prang watercolors.

Sunday Post: An Unforgettable Umbrella

The Umbrella Fountain or la paraguas in the Museum of Anthropology Mexico

The Umbrella Fountain or la paraguas in the National Museum of Anthropology Mexico I went to see the Ancient Mayan Calendar, but never can forget this modern almost almost futuriisic structure. A Raining Umbrella that hold up what appears to be the whole sky.  I wonder will folks 2400 years from now give great meaning and great significance to this piece? Go see it if you can!

Jakes Sunday Post Suggested the topic Unforgettable I could have put friends and family but I would have been here all day since I want to go out and be with them I give you one  unforgettable wonder of the modern world.
