File this under Nostalgic: Sometimes, we long for the past: for moments we want to remember or recapture. The good times. The golden years. Or perhaps we’re homesick, or longing for something — or someone — that might have been.
I certainly remember when gas prices got down to $0.24 a gallon during a price war and I long for those good old days!
These pictures are from, believe it or not, a flower show. Now that you have wrapped your head around that can someone tell me what make and model of car that is. And what is the lowest gas price you remember?

my first awareness of the price of gas was 1964 and it was 26 cents a gallon! imagine the places we would go, the things we’d see, if it was still that price today.

And a loaf of bread was a dime and a movie a dollar. Our kids will have to work real had for a long time I suspect.

I don’t remember an actual price but I remember as a kid going to the gas station and putting a dollar’s worth in the tank…now it wouldn’t reach the end of the hose…lol. Nice post.

Wow I can remember that price. I bought a diesel motor home because the fuel was cheaper and shortly there after the price took a big jump. If only gas was o.26 cents again. Everything would be cheaper. Good post and love your photos too.

As my Old Daddy use to say “you can’t win for losing” 😉 do you still have the motor home? My dad made his own when I was a kid. What fun we had!

My wife and I have been living in our motor homes {4} different one for 15 years. We went from Savannah, GA to San Diego CA and back every year and many points in between. We loved it but we are getting up in age and thought it would be a good time to buy another house. So we did in January 2013 – we will take short trips maybe a month or two. It’s in our blood now.

Great pictures Carol. Sure brings back memories too!! I rremember getting in to the Saturday afternoon shows for 10 cents. But the night time shows were 25 cents. You could go to the show and get a candy bar and popcorn and a drink for less than $1.00. When I used to hang out at the gas station with my friend a lot of the kids would come in and put in just 50 cents worth of gas. They could “drag Grand Ave.” a lot on that amount. Gee, we had a good time “way back then”. lol

What a terrific show. I love the old cars when they are so lovingly restored. Regarding 24 cent a gallon gas – just think about what wages were like back then and it kind of puts it into perspective.

I remember getting a raise to $1.25 was a big deal. I guess you have to work 20 or 30 minutes to buy a gallon of gas. Wow! I do love pretty old cars too.
